1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Cost in Bangladesh: A Complete Guide to Prices and Budget Levels

1000 sq ft flat interior design cost in Bangladesh is approximately Tk 6 lakh to Tk 30 lakh, depending on material quality, design complexity and finishing standards. Low-budget interiors cost Tk 600–850 per sq ft, standard interiors cost Tk 1,200–1,600, while premium interiors can exceed Tk 2,000 per sq ft.
Many owners ask why interior estimates differ so much. One firm says Tk 8 lakh. Another, however, says Tk 25 lakh. This guide explains what drives that gap.
First, you will learn how per-sq-ft pricing works. Then you will see what each room costs. Finally, you will learn how to read any estimate with confidence.
Here is how we wrote it. On November 1, 2026, we reviewed 16 published sources, most from 2025 and 2026. We traced every figure back to the report that published it. We also marked older figures as older. Then we built the cost table and tested it. The results of that test appear below.

What Is the Average 1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Cost in Bangladesh?
The average 1000 sq ft flat interior design cost in Bangladesh falls between Tk 6 lakh and Tk 30 lakh. In most cases, families land in the standard range of Tk 12 lakh to Tk 15.5 lakh, or Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,600 per sq ft. Materials, scope and location decide the final number.
Here is what those numbers include: design, carpentry, electrical work, paint and finishing. Location matters too. Dhaka prices may run higher than other cities because of labor and transport costs. However, the gap varies by contractor.
Why do prices keep changing? Three things drive most of it: materials, scope and labor. Inflation also plays a part. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), as reported by UNB, point-to-point inflation rose to 8.34 percent in September 2026 from 8.26 percent in August. That was the latest BBS figure we could find on November 1, 2026. In plain terms, prices in September 2026 sat 8.34 percent above September 2025.
The 2026 trend has been uneven. Observer reported that May's rate of 9.42 percent was the highest in 16 months, and non-food inflation reached 9.71 percent. Then, according to BBS data, inflation fell to 9.16 percent in June and to 8.32 percent in July. BBS also found that average inflation from June 2025 to May 2026 was 8.63 percent, down from 10.13 percent a year earlier. So an estimate from 2025 may no longer hold. Always ask for a fresh one.
Demand is also rising. According to a February 2026 report by Mordor Intelligence, the construction market is set to grow from USD 34.41 billion in 2025 to USD 36.49 billion in 2026, and to USD 48.96 billion by 2031, a 6.05% yearly growth rate. The same report says renovation work is growing at 6.12% a year. As a result, labor rates may climb, so book your team early.
How Did We Calculate These Costs?

We compared costs using five criteria: material quality, finish, warranty, timeline and price per square foot. We priced every job in a typical 3 bedroom flat at three budget levels, then added the totals. The ranges are estimates built from Dhaka market rates and published sources, not a formal survey.
Here is how the calculation worked, step by step.
First, we listed every job in a typical 3 bedroom flat of 1,000 sq ft, from carpentry to paint.
Next, we set a low and a high rate for each job at three budget levels.
Then we added the totals for each level and worked out the midpoints.
Finally, we tested the result. We divided each total by 1,000 and checked that it landed inside the per sq ft bands we quote.
The test passed for all three levels. Low budget came to Tk 600 to Tk 850 per sq ft. Standard came to Tk 1,220 to Tk 1,550. Premium came to Tk 2,050 to Tk 3,050. Each result matched the bands in our opening paragraph.
We did not audit individual client projects for this guide. Therefore, the ranges work best as a planning baseline, not a final quote.
Scope: This guide covers interior work for flats of about 1,000 sq ft in Dhaka, with 2 or 3 bedrooms. The ranges include carpentry, ceilings, lighting, paint, electrical points and tiles. They exclude structural changes, appliances and imported designer furniture. All areas mean carpet area, which is the usable floor space inside the walls.
Tools and data sources: Market context comes from BBS data, which, according to Observer, is collected from 154 markets and covers 383 goods and services. Industry reports and news coverage of material prices fill in the rest, all linked in the sources list.
Limits: Prices change by supplier and season. Likewise, your flat's layout can shift the total. The ranges have not been tested against a formal survey, so they may not match flats outside Dhaka. We checked all figures on November 1, 2026, and we will recheck them by May 2027.
Material prices also moved a lot this year. On March 10, 2026, Bd-Pratidin reported that rod prices rose by nearly Tk 10,000 per tonne in a single day, after they had settled between Tk 70,000 and Tk 80,000 per tonne the year before. Meanwhile, The Business Standard reported that 75-grade steel rods sold at Tk 90,000 to Tk 95,000 per tonne at the mill gate, up from Tk 80,000 to Tk 83,000 ten days earlier, while cement rose by Tk 20 to Tk 25 per bag.
When we compared midpoints, that was a rise of about 13 percent in ten days, and about 23 percent above last year's midpoint of Tk 75,000 (our calculation). Still, rod and cement mostly affect civil work, not cabinets. However, they feed into tiles, plaster and labor costs.
How Much Does Each Room Cost? 1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Cost Breakdown
Living and dining areas usually cost Tk 1.3 to 6.5 lakh, depending on budget level. Kitchens cost Tk 1.3 to 6.5 lakh. A master bedroom runs Tk 1.1 to 5 lakh. Together, rooms, ceilings and finishing make up the full Tk 6 to 30 lakh range shown below.
Area | Low Budget | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
Living and dining room | 1.3–1.7 | 2.5–3.0 | 4.5–6.5 |
Kitchen | 1.3–1.9 | 2.5–3.2 | 4.5–6.5 |
Master bedroom | 1.1–1.5 | 2.2–2.8 | 3.5–5.0 |
Two other bedrooms | 1.3–1.9 | 2.6–3.4 | 4.5–6.5 |
False ceiling and lighting | 0.4–0.6 | 1.2–1.6 | 2.0–3.5 |
Paint, electrical, tiles | 0.6–0.9 | 1.2–1.5 | 1.5–2.5 |
Total | 6.0–8.5 | 12.2–15.5 | 20.5–30.5 |
Table figures are in Tk lakh for a typical 3 bedroom layout.
To read this table, find your budget level first. Then check each room's range. Next, divide any total by 1,000 to get the 1000 sq ft flat interior design cost per square foot. For example, a Tk 14 lakh project comes to Tk 1,400 per sq ft.
What we found when we compared the three levels (our calculations, using midpoints):
Standard costs about 1.9 times the low budget level (Tk 13.85 lakh vs Tk 7.25 lakh).
Premium costs about 1.8 times standard (Tk 25.5 lakh vs Tk 13.85 lakh).
The kitchen share surprised us. It stayed at roughly 21 to 22 percent of the budget at every level.
False ceiling and lighting grew from about 7 percent at low budget to about 10 percent at standard and premium.
In most cases, board type changes the kitchen total more than any other choice. For instance, a switch from basic plywood to marine ply can raise cabinet cost noticeably.

What Affects 1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Cost in Bangladesh: Kitchen, Bedroom and Ceiling

Kitchens and wardrobes take the biggest share of a 1000 sq ft flat interior design budget. Board type, finish and hardware move the price most. A full kitchen often costs Tk 1.3 lakh to Tk 6.5 lakh, and gypsum false ceilings add Tk 80,000 to Tk 1.6 lakh. Lighting is extra.
Kitchen: Kitchen cabinet design price in Bangladesh usually falls between Tk 2,500 and Tk 5,000 per running foot, which is the price for each foot of cabinet length. Plywood with laminate (a thin printed sheet glued on the board) sits at the low end. Marine ply, which uses water-resistant glue, costs more. An acrylic finish (a glossy sheet) or a PU finish (a smooth sprayed paint) adds more again. Hardware means hinges, drawer channels and soft-close parts. Brands like Hettich or Hafele add to the total. Still, the doors last longer.
Learn what moves kitchen cost the most: board type, finish and hardware. For example, laminate doors with branded hinges often cut the upfront bill. In return, the finish may wear sooner in a busy kitchen than acrylic or PU would.
Bedroom: A bedroom's cost depends mostly on wardrobe size. For instance, built-in wardrobes cost around Tk 1,200 to Tk 2,000 per sq ft of front area. A bed, side tables and a dresser then add more.
Living room: Living room cost rises with TV walls, wall panels and custom sofas. A simple TV unit, for example, is cheap. A full feature wall, in contrast, costs far more.
False ceiling: A false ceiling is a second ceiling hung below the concrete slab. It hides wiring and holds lights. In most cases, gypsum work (boards made from a soft white mineral) covers about 600 to 800 sq ft of ceiling. Installation often takes several working days, and lighting adds more.
What Is the Difference Between Low Budget, Standard and Premium Levels?
Low budget suits first-time owners with tight budgets. Standard, on the other hand, fits most families who want durable finishes at fair prices. Premium works best if you want imported materials and fully custom design. Overall, standard gives the best balance of quality and cost in most cases. Explained simply, each level trades price for lifespan.
Low budget (Tk 6–8.5 lakh)
Pros: Lowest upfront cost. Quick to finish. Covers all key rooms.
Cons: Thinner boards. Shorter lifespan. Fewer design choices.
Standard (Tk 12–15.5 lakh)
Pros: Better boards from makers like Partex or Akij Board. Stronger hardware. Good warranty terms.
Cons: Costs nearly double the low budget route.
Premium (Tk 20–30 lakh)
Pros: Custom designs. Imported fittings. Top-grade finishes.
Cons: Highest cost. Longer timeline. Resale value may not match the spend.
In most cases, low budget boards and hardware wear out sooner. As a result, owners may replace items like wardrobe shutters earlier. This is a general pattern, not a formal study.
If money is tight, low budget interior design for a 1000 sq ft flat can still look good. First, spend on the kitchen and wardrobes. Then save on decor and wall panels. You can add those later.
Worked example (illustrative, not a client project): reading two estimates
Problem: An owner has a Tk 14 lakh budget for a 1000 sq ft flat. Two firms send estimates of Tk 12 lakh and Tk 17 lakh. Neither lists material brands.
Approach: The owner asks both firms for an itemized list with brands and board thickness. Next, the owner converts each total to a per sq ft rate: Tk 1,200 and Tk 1,700.
Result: We ran these numbers through our own table. The first estimate sits inside the standard range of Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,600. The second, however, sits above it and moves toward the premium range. The owner then adds a 10 percent buffer of Tk 1.4 lakh to the Tk 14 lakh budget.
Lesson: Per sq ft rates make estimates easy to compare. Itemized lists, in turn, show where the gap comes from.

You also have many firms to choose from. A Smart Interior study, reported by The Business Standard, found the interior design market at Tk 20,000 crore, with about Tk 15,000 crore of that going to materials. One crore equals 10 million, so that is Tk 200 billion in total.
Materials therefore make up about 75 percent of spending (our calculation). The same study says around 10,000 companies work in interior decoration. Quality varies widely across that many firms. Because this study is a few years old, treat the totals as a rough guide.
Brand choice matters too. According to The Daily Star on October 30, 2025, the domestic furniture market is in the Tk 25,000 crore range. Likewise, a 2022 Bikroy report citing the Export Promotion Bureau found that branded makers hold 35% of that market and non-branded makers hold 65%. That split is older, so treat it as a rough guide.
Small flats, meanwhile, need smart planning. An April 2026 review by ECRL notes that the average apartment size is shrinking, often below 1,200 square feet. On August 30, 2026, The Daily Star reported that designers now build around compact layouts of 1,200 to 1,800 sq. ft.
Likewise, a June 2025 study in a Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology journal notes that architects have kept reducing room dimensions to meet demand for compact apartments. A 1000 sq ft flat sits below even that range. As a result, built-in storage usually gives more value than loose furniture.
What industry experts have said (from published reports, with titles as reported at the time)
Mahfuzur Rahman, an engineer who owns the interior materials supplier Max International in Hatirpul, told The Business Standard that materials make up about Tk 15,000 crore of the Tk 20,000 crore interior market. In plain terms, materials drive most of your bill.
Likewise, Iqbal Mahmud, senior consultant architect at Smart Interior, said the market slowed during the Covid years and began to rebound at the end of 2021.
In addition, Amirul Haque, managing director of Premier Cement Mills and president of the Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association, said recent price rises partly aligned market prices with production costs.
Meanwhile, KM Aktaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, said there is no official market size data, but the figure is surely above Tk 25,000 crore.
What Is Turnkey vs Partial Interior, and Which Costs Less?
Turnkey means one team handles design, build and finishing. Partial means you hire for chosen rooms only. Partial usually costs less upfront. Turnkey, however, costs more but gives one team, one timeline and one warranty. If you want less stress, turnkey is easier. If you already own furniture, partial often saves money.
Feature | Turnkey | Partial |
|---|---|---|
Typical cost | Higher | Lower |
Management effort | Low | High |
Warranty | One source | Split across vendors |
Best for | New flats, busy owners | Renovations, tight budgets |
Partial flat interior design cost in Bangladesh often runs 30 to 40 percent lower than full turnkey. But coordination takes your time. In return, a turnkey interior design cost in Bangladesh buys peace of mind.
Here is how a turnkey job usually runs. First, the team measures the flat on site. Next, it draws the layout and lists materials. Then it sends an itemized estimate. After approval, carpentry starts. In most cases, a flat of this size takes roughly 8 to 12 weeks from start to handover, though scope changes that timeline.
How to read estimates in 5 steps:
First, collect at least three written estimates.
Next, ask each firm for a BOQ (bill of quantities), an itemized list of every job with its rate and quantity.
Then check that each one lists materials by brand and thickness.
After that, compare the price per square foot, not just the total.
Finally, visit one finished project before you decide.
Also, check for BSTI-certified products where they apply. Those marks signal that the item meets national standards. According to a Daily Star report, a BSTI deputy director, Md Reazul Haque, said the institution has set standards for 4,200 products, and the mark is mandatory for 274 of them. That is about 6.5 percent of standardized products (our calculation). So ask each supplier which items are covered.
Your action checklist before you hire anyone
Measure your flat and note the exact carpet area.
Pick a budget level: low budget, standard or premium.
Multiply the per sq ft rate by 1,000 for a rough budget.
Add a 10 to 15 percent buffer on top.
List your must-haves first: kitchen, wardrobes, ceiling, lighting.
Ask three firms for itemized estimates with brand names and board thickness.
Visit one finished project of similar size.
Confirm payment stages and handover date in writing.
Quick glossary
MDF: a board made from pressed wood fibres. It costs less than plywood but swells in water.
Plywood: thin wood layers glued together. It handles moisture better than MDF.
Laminate: a thin decorative sheet pasted on a board.
PU finish: a sprayed paint with a smooth, hard surface.
Running foot: a price per foot of cabinet length.
BOQ: the itemized list of work, quantities and rates.
Carpet area: the usable floor space inside the walls.
CAGR: the steady yearly growth rate over a period.
Conclusion: Plan Your 1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Budget
The 1000 sq ft flat interior design cost in Bangladesh typically ranges from Tk 6 lakh to Tk 30 lakh, depending on material quality, design choices and finishing standards. A low-budget project may cost Tk 6–8.5 lakh, while a standard interior usually requires Tk 12–15.5 lakh. Premium projects can reach Tk 20–30 lakh or more.
Before choosing an interior design package, compare the room-wise costs, material specifications, labour charges and warranty terms. Ask at least three companies for itemized estimates and keep an additional 10–15% of your budget for unexpected expenses.
For most families, a standard interior package offers a practical balance between cost and durability. Use the pricing breakdown in this guide to estimate your requirements, compare quotations and choose an interior design plan that fits your budget. FAQs About 1000 Sq Ft Flat Interior Design Cost in Bangladesh
1. What is a fair 1000 sq ft flat interior design cost in Dhaka?
A fair 1000 sq ft flat interior design cost in Dhaka is Tk 12 lakh to Tk 15.5 lakh for standard quality. Budget work, however, can start near Tk 6 lakh. Premium projects often pass Tk 20 lakh. In the end, the final figure depends on materials, brands and how many custom pieces you want.
2. Can I finish a 1000 sq ft flat on a low budget?
Yes. At the low budget level, a 1000 sq ft flat typically costs Tk 6 lakh to Tk 8.5 lakh. To do this, focus on the kitchen, wardrobes and lighting. Also, skip wall panels and imported fittings. The trade-off, however, is a shorter lifespan for some materials. So choose basic items carefully.
3. Is a 3 bedroom flat much costlier than a 2 bedroom flat?
Usually yes, but not double. In most cases, a 3 bedroom flat interior design cost in Bangladesh runs about 15 to 25 percent higher than a 2 bedroom layout. The third bedroom adds a wardrobe, a bed and side units. Both, however, depend on finish level, so request room-wise estimates before you compare them.
4. Is turnkey better than hiring separate vendors?
For most busy owners, turnkey is easier. One team handles design, carpentry, electrical and paint, so you get a single warranty and one timeline. Separate vendors, however, can cost less. In that case, you manage the schedule. Either way, get itemized estimates and pick the one that fits your time.
5. How much should I keep as a buffer?
Set aside 10 to 15 percent. Material prices move, and small changes add up. BBS data shows prices rose 8.34 percent in the year to September 2026. Hidden items like extra wiring, tile repair or door fittings also appear mid-project. A buffer keeps your plan stable and protects you from rushed, low-quality decisions.
